Education and outreach projects are an important focus for the CCWF. Through collaborative partnerships, we work to provide the public with information on the history and current condition of the area, watershed science, sustainability techniques/tools, and natural resources in general. We believe that this will allow for more informed decisions to be made for sustainable watershed management.
Through our outreach efforts, the CCWF continues to cultivate the well-established “culture of cooperation” by providing numerous opportunities for watershed stakeholder involvement. This effort is being accomplished through ongoing forums, tours/presentations (on request, please contact us), outreach documents, our website and the Watershed Exhibit.
Our educational efforts currently involve preparing and disseminating information to teachers relating to the 4th and 7th grade curriculum areas of Colorado Mining History and Natural Resources. We specifically focus on the wealth of history and natural resources in Clear Creek Watershed with these topics: A Summer of Gold Mining History in the Idaho Springs Area, What’s Mined Is Yours (Mineral Resources), and What’s A Watershed? (Watershed Science).
To promote sustainable
natural resource management thoughout the Clear Creek Watershed and serve as a model for the arid mountain west.
